Today starts the 30th Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach am Wörthersee in Austria. I am very proud to be part of the violin jury. In next few days we will hear 1st round performances of 51 violinists; Bach and Paganini. Brahms will be heard on later rounds. Altogether there are four categories in the competition this year: violin, viola, piano and chamber music. The participants come from more than 20 nations.
